Hey gals, check out the Eating Habits Lab Facebook Group. You'll find tips for changing your eating habits, resources, inspiration and support from like-minded habit changers. See you in the Lab!
This is a collection of 5 recorded mindful eating meditations (plus an introduction). Meditations cover general mindfulness, tuning in to your body, coping with cravings, mindful eating and tasting, and trusting your body. You can download these for convenient listening.
If you are a beginning meditator, this is the first meditation you should listen to, as it introduces some general mindfulness concepts and techniques. If you find this meditation too long for you, simply go as far as you can and try again the next day. Experienced meditators may use this recording as a regular mindfulness meditation.
This meditation is appropriate for when you've become a bit more comfortable with meditation in general and have been working on developing your meditation habit. In this meditation I offer some introductory information about reconnecting with your body, and also discuss the concept of interoceptive awareness.
Now that you have a couple weeks of meditation experience, it's time to "dig in" to some eating—a mindful eating meditation, that is! We'll be focusing on tuning in to our food and observing both the eating experience and the responses of our bodies during and after eating. This is a foundational aspect of mindful eating.
This meditation is all about letting your body lead. Our bodies are wise...and also forgiving. We have spent plenty of time trying to control our bodies, but ultimately, nature always wins—and what's more, our bodies know what they're doing and they are always working hard for us. Learning to let go of the idea of imposing your will on your body, and learning to trust your body to guide you is an important part of mindful eating.
